Kettle on his better days. We miss you!

Kettle

Eternal Team Member, 2012 - 2020

Kettle was rescued from a puppy mill in late 2020. He was the only Labrador Retriever in the mill but nobody wanted to adopt him as he has a serious separation anxiety issue, howling whenever he doesn't see any human. He suffered from a serious heartworm infection, tick fever, potential kidney issues, and very bad hips. Kettle is also massively overweight, and has serious structural problems such as bad topline, weak pasterns and cow hocked, which limits a lot of things he can do without causing him pain.

He lacks simple life skills such as using the stairs and potty training so everything had to be taught from scratch. We taught him how to be a dog, and enjoy life in a real home. We gave him a strict diet to help him with his weight, and spent thousands trying to cure him. However, he died just 3 months after coming home with us, to complications from the heartworm treatment.

His death broke our hearts, but also made me read up and understand more about well bred dogs. He is the reason I am so against breeders who breed without care just for the sake of making money. Read more about his story here.

Kettle is one of the main reason for the setting up of Kettle Labradors. We miss you Kettle!
